The United States said on Tuesday, May 30, that it does not support attacks inside Russia after drones targeted buildings in Moscow, but believes that Russia is responsible for its invasion of Ukraine.
“In general, we do not support attacks inside Russia. We have focused on providing Ukraine with the equipment and training it needs to reclaim its own sovereign territory,” a State Department spokesman said as Secretary Antony Blinken visited Sweden.
According to the spokesman, the United States was still assessing what happened in Moscow, where some residential buildings were attacked for the first time since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed Kiev for the incursions.

However, the State Department official stressed that Russia had carried out air strikes on the Ukrainian capital on Tuesday for the 17th time in May.
“Russia started this unprovoked war against Ukraine. Russia could end it at any time by withdrawing its forces from Ukraine instead of launching brutal attacks on the cities and people of Ukraine every day,” she stressed.
