Rolando García Guerreño gave Nacional a key victory, 1-2 over the hour against Ameliano, to rise to the top of the Championship. Once again, lighting failures in a stadium set up by the Paraguayan Football Association hindered the show.
Ameliano officiated at home today in his unexpected stronghold, Martín Torres (Sportivo Trinidense), against Pedro Sarabia’s Nacional for date 10 of the Clausura 2022 tournament.
The game had an interesting rhythm start, but with the passing of the minutes it lost strength, while presenting some other situation that the goalkeepers were in charge of drowning.
However, the game got intense again towards the end of the first half; first with a missed penalty by the tricolor scorer Facundo Bruera and, later, with the expulsion (direct red) of Enrique Guedes, which left the V Azulada with 10.
It seemed that the night was coming for the visitors, but it was Ameliano who broke the zero thanks to Fredy Vera when he returned from the locker room (48′). The reaction of the white cast came at minute 58 at the hands of David Fleitas.
To the one that did come the night went to the light of the stadium. There was a blackout about the hour and the wait was for more than 20 minutes. The match resumed and, in the first nationalist charge, defender Rolando García Guerreño (90’+3′) headed in to score the final 1-2.
Ameliano could not reach parity and the three points went to Nacional’s box, which now shares the lead with Cerro Porteño.
The cast led by Humberto García will wear the jersey of General Caballero de Mallorquin tomorrow, who faces 12 de Octubre de Itauguá in a central duel for the table of averages.
