Ana Lilia Rivera Rivera, president of the National Defense Commission, said that this is a collaboration established in the Mexico-United States bilateral cooperation mechanisms.
The aim, he added, is to ”increase operational competitiveness in order to strengthen the operational capabilities of both nations.”
“In a world where global challenges require joint responses, these types of exercises are essential to improve our preparation and coordination in efforts to face shared challenges,” explained the senator.
He also said that the joint events reinforce the relationship of friendship and cooperation between both countries.
Mexican soldiers will travel to Dubai
At the same time, the Senate approved an opinion to authorize President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo to allow elements of the Army and Air Force to leave the country to participate in the International “Swat Challenge” Competition.
This international event will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from February 1 to 5, 2025.
Rivera indicated that this trip will strengthen Mexico’s defense capabilities and consolidate the country’s position as a responsible and collaborative actor in the global arena.
The authorizations, he indicated, “share a common objective: to guarantee that our Armed Forces are better prepared to fulfill their mission of saving national security and sovereignty, while promoting international cooperation.”
“Swat Challenge” is a competition that brings together elite forces from around the world. There will be 10 elements of the Mexican Army who will make the trip.
Ana Lilia Rivera assured that the military elements will have the opportunity “to demonstrate their professionalism and skills at an international level, in a competition in which the Mexican team has already obtained recognition as one of the best on the American continent.”
