The president of the Senate, Laura Itzel Castillo, published a statement, where she recalled that Mexico has maintained a historical foreign policy of non-intervention and supported Sheinbaum’s position.
“International conflicts must be resolved exclusively through political, diplomatic and peaceful means,” he stressed.
In light of the latest events that have occurred in Venezuela, the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Senators that I am honored to preside over, issues the following statement.

Senators from the ruling Morena party and its allies from the Labor Party (PT) and the Green Party of Mexico (PVEM) did the same. In a position released this Saturday they also condemned the military intervention.
“We express our absolute support for the foreign policy of the Mexican State conducted in an exemplary manner, with responsibility,” they stated.
The federal deputy and former president of Morena, Alfonso Ramírez Cuéllar, also joined the voices that reject the US attack, carried out this morning.
“Violence will never be the answer between people or the way to resolve differences. The way must always be dialogue, respect for international law and peaceful coexistence between nations,” he noted.
The head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, also joined the voices calling for urgent intervention by the UN.
From the Citizen Movement (MC) they positioned themselves against the actions ordered by North American President Donald Trump, but also because Latin America manages to advance without authoritarian regimes like Maduro’s, accused of appropriating the elections to stay in power. For 12 years he governed in the midst of a severe economic, democratic and human rights crisis that affected the population.
“Wars do not democratize. Wars do not pacify. Latin America must claim its right to free self-determination. This objective also involves shaking off the authoritarian and criminal regimes that have been established in the region. There is no sovereignty without democracy,” wrote Jorge Álvarez Máynez, national coordinator of MC.
Juan Zavala, vice coordinator of the MC deputies, supported his leader’s message and commented that “Latin America has to continue defending its right to a peaceful path, even in the face of criminal regimes, such as that of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela.”
You cannot be a democrat in Mexico and celebrate unilateral and illegal actions in other parts of the world.

Some expert academics have explained that the US intervention means a setback in international law and opens the door to new interventions in Latin America, which puts the countries of the region at risk.
They state that the United States acted illegally, without the approval of its Congress, and violated the Charter of the United Nations.
