The North American country had increased the level at the end of January 2022, but two months later it revised the decision.
The Government of United States lowered from level 4 to 3 the category of Ecuador inside their travel alerts, reported the Ministry of Tourism in a statement. The move is encouraging, but it means there are still things to improve to make it a “recommended” destination.
At the end of January 2022, the North American country raised the alert from 3 to 4 in consideration of the increase in cases of COVID-19. However the Vaccination Plan implemented by the Government allowed to reduce the cases of this disease in Ecuador, it is highlighted in the document.
As of March 14, 2022, 13.6 million people have been fully immunized against the disease. This represents 84.84% of the 16 million inhabitants of the age to be vaccinated. With these results, the recommendation of USA I went from “not traveling” to “reconsidering” a trip due to the risks that can occur in a destination.
The travel alerts They are recommendations issued by the governments of each country. Currently they are directed more to the epidemiological situation of each nation.
Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, and Bolivia are the only countries in South America that are located at level 3 of the United States travel alerts.
As for the other prioritized destinations, Ecuador it is at the green level in the United Kingdom, Spain and France; at yellow level in Germany, and at red level in Canada, the latter country has all nations at the same level due to the effect of COVID-19. (SC)
