From January 21 to 31, 2025, the amount of arrests of the US border patrol along the southwest border decreased 85% compared to the same period in 2024
The United States National Security Department (DHS) launched a new advertising campaign in which they invite undocumented migrants in the country to “self -portion” before being “found” by the authorities.
The strategy includes two videos of a minute each: the first one aimed at a local audience in the US and the second to an international audience, in which they urge people to “not consider” enter the country if it does not have legal documents of stay.
«President Trump has a clear message: if you are illegally here, we will find you and deport you: they will never return. But if they leave now, they can have the opportunity to return and enjoy our freedom and live the American dream, ”says DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, in the local announcement.

Both materials start with Noem on the screen and continue with images of Donald Trump signing executive orders, followed by videos of undocumented immigrants arrests and photos of some of them.
DHS explained that this was a “multimillionaire advertising campaign” that will be broadcast on radio, television and digital media, in several countries and different languages.
“The ads will be hypersegmented, even through social networks, text messages and digital media to reach illegal immigrants in the interior of the United States, as well as internationally,” added the agency.
The video aimed at an international audience adds that «if they are foreigners criminals who are considering illegally entering the United States, do not even think about it. If they come here and violate our laws, we will chase them. Criminals are not welcome in the United States ».
Fall of meetings on the border
This announcement occurs at the same time that the Office of Customs and Border Protection (CBP, in English) published the number of meetings with irregular migrants on the southwest border of the US.
