US jury finds rapper Tory Lanez guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion

During the second day of deliberations, jurors found the 30-year-old Canadian rapper guilty, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, of shooting the “Savage” singer in the feet after yelling “dance bitch” at her.

On Lanez, who pleaded not guilty, weigh charges of attack with a semi-automatic weapon, firing a weapon with gross negligence and carrying a loaded weapon without registration in a vehicle.

Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, claims that she was in a vehicle with Lanez, her bodyguard and her friend Kelsey Harris after a party at Kylie Jenner’s house in Hollywood in the early hours of July 12, 2020.

The singer would have made a comment about Lanez, which sparked an argument. The rapper immediately opened fire, wounding her at her feet.

The 27-year-old artist said she saw him pointing at her and shooting.

“I’m in shock. I’m scared. I hear the shot and I can’t believe it, he is shooting at me,” he said at the time in court.

“I didn’t know he had a gun that night.”

The woman, bleeding, in pain and wearing only a thong, ended up agreeing to get back into the vehicle. “He apologized” and, according to her, offered her a million dollars for her silence.

The police stopped the car shortly after and the artist was taken to a hospital, where she was treated for injuries that she initially attributed to broken glass.

Lanez’s lawyer, George Mgdesyan, disputed the claims: he said that the investigation had been misconducted and that the police had jumped to conclusions.

The interpreter of “WAP” has said that she and Lanez they were close before the attack and had casual sex.

Mgdesyan claimed at trial that the person who opened fire on Megan Thee Stallion was her former assistant, Kelsey Harris, who apparently was unaware of the intimacy between the two musicians and would have shot in a fit of jealousy.

But the prosecution refuted that in that scenario it would have been simpler for Megan Thee Stallion accuse Harris that the rapper.

“The defendant has his ego hit because Megan was more successful than him“said prosecutor Kathy Ta.

“She disrespected his rap. He has a gigantic ego and couldn’t take being disrespected. The defendant shot Megan,” Ta expressed in his closing arguments.

Lanez did not react to the reading of the verdict and was immediately taken into custody, according to local media.

Sentencing for the singer is scheduled for January 27.
