The above, after an immigration judge in the United States ordered his deportation to Mexico, but the affected person filed a legal appeal to prevent his transfer to Mexican territory; Regardless, the FGR has requested provisional detention for extradition purposes.
Álvarez Puga has been detained for immigration reasons in US territory since last July, although he entered illegally in 2021.
Among the accusations he faces in Mexico is having issued false invoices for more than 3 billion pesos, which favored tax evasion by dozens of companies.
In force, the arrest warrant and red card
Officially, the FGR notified that Álvarez Puga “has a current arrest warrant for organized crime and operations with resources of illicit origin, at the request of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime.
Likewise, “said individual also has a current arrest warrant, for tax fraud, in the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Competence Control of the FGR.”
In this case, the Federal Public Ministry, through the Criminal Investigation Agency, requested, “at the time, Interpol to issue the red location card and the corresponding international detention, which was granted, published and is in force.”
Meanwhile, he pointed out that his Special Prosecutor’s Office for International Affairs opportunely requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to carry out the procedure with the US authorities to obtain provisional detention for the purposes of extradition.
He revealed that “on October 17, a US immigration judge determined the deportation of said person, to which his lawyers in that country appealed that deportation order on which the authority will rule on November 12.”
While his legal status is being decided and whether he is handed over to Mexican authorities, Álvarez Puga is being held in the immigration facilities in Miami, Florida.
