US displays 4,000 agents in Latin American waters in combat against posters

EEUU Mar Caribe

The means assigned by the US to this surveillance mission include a nuclear submarine, P8 Poseidon recognition aircraft, several destroyers and a war ship equipped with missiles

The United States has begun to deploy 4,000 agents, mainly Marine infants, in the waters of Lationamérica and the Caribbean to fight drug trafficking posters, in addition to strengthening their presence with airplanes, ships and launches.

The information was first announced by the chain CNNwhich summoned two sources of the American defense, and then corroborated by other local media.

The means assigned to this surveillance mission include a nuclear submarine, P8 Poseidon recognition aircraft, several destroyers and a war ship equipped with missiles.

One of the officers cited by CNN He described the deployment as “a sample of force”, before all, with a deterrent intention, but stressed that his mere presence gives military command a range of options to use force if he considers it necessary.

However, other sources have questioned the suitability of the Marines for this work, lacking anti -drug fighting, so they indicated that they would need the support of the Coast Guard, whose presence in that force is not clear.

Although anti -drug tasks have traditionally fallen to the drug control administration (DEA) and not in the military estate, things seem to have changed with the new Donald Trump government.

A few months ago a letter from the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, was made public, who recalled that the US army has the task of defending the homeland, and that includes “sealing the borders, repelling all forms of invasion, including mass immigration, drug trafficking, smuggling of human beings and other criminal activities, as well as deporting illegal immigrants in coordination with the National Security Department.”
