Twenty congressmen Americans, mostly Hispanics, sent a letter to the president of Ecuador, William Lassoto urge you to sign the regulation which would guarantee, with exceptions, the right to abortion for rape in the country.
Democratic legislator Norma Torres heads the letter to the Ecuadorian president, who plans to announce his decision on the regulation approved by the National Assembly regarding the rape abortion.
“We are concerned because, in recent statements, you (Guillermo Lasso) have indicated the possibility of applying a veto the law”, states the letter.
“We urge you to sign the law without changes. That would send a clear message that you respect the democratic process that led to the adoption of the legislation.
Signing the standard would also show that lasso is “committed to comply with the obligations of Rights rights of Ecuador, by ensuring that no Ecuadorian woman or girl suffers unnecessarily the harm of a forced pregnancy or a abortion clandestine”, they conclude.
