MIAMI, United States. — The United States Border Patrol detained this Wednesday a group of 11 Cuban rafters who arrived illegally in the Florida Keys.
The migrants were intercepted in Cayo Maratón when they were about to leave the area in a dump truck.
Chief Patrol Agent Walter N. Slosar said the operation was supported by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
“Miami Sector Border Patrol agents with support from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a migrant landing near Marathon and encountered 11 Cuban migrants attempting to board a dump truck after making landfall. No injuries were reported,” the publication highlights.
This Tuesday, the US Coast Guard (USGC) repatriated 45 Cubans that they had been intercepted trying to reach the coast of Florida, the US agency reported on its Twitter account.
