The President of the United States, Joe Biden, announced this Sunday (05.21.2023) a new $375 million aid for Ukraine during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodimir Zelenski, on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan.
New shipments will include “ammunition, artillery, armored vehicles”, Biden declared, days after telling Washington’s allies his agreement to supply F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
“I thanked (U.S.A.) for significant financial assistance to (Ukraine),” Zelensky later wrote on his Twitter account.
The announcement comes a day after Russia announced that it had seized the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut.. “For today, Bakhmut is alone in our hearts,” Zelensky said this Sunday with Biden. “There is nothing in that place.”
The eight-month battle for Bakhmut has been the longest and probably the bloodiest of the invasion of Ukraine.
