US Ambassador visits the Attorney General of the Republic

The attorney general, Yeni Berenice Reynosoreceived in his office a visit from ambassador Leah Francis Camposwith whom he spoke about the collaboration projects in the security field between the United States and the Dominican Republic.

“We had a very friendly conversation. From the Attorney General’s Office We work on different initiatives that, within the framework of their bilateral relationship, the United States and the Dominican Republic maintain to strengthen security in our countries,” Reynoso said, according to a press release.

In the meetingheld at the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, the deputy attorney general was present Wilson Camachohead of the General Directorate of Persecution of the Public Ministry, while Ambassador Campos was accompanied by Rebecca Marquezdirector of the Office of International Affairs and Drug Trafficking and Law Enforcement (INL), and the attachés of the DEA and the FBI, Kaleb Sanderson and Enrique Corral, respectively.

United in the hemispheric security

The attorney general recalled that the Dominican Republic and the United States work together on issues that impact the hemispheric securitysuch as the fight against drug trafficking or money laundering coming from activities linked to the organized crime.

Reynoso valued the United States cooperation which materializes with the constant flow of strategic information through the Office of Anti-Narcotics Affairs and Law Enforcement (INL), the Drug Enforcement Administration of the United States (DEA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

According to the press release from the Attorney General’s Office, the highest representative of the Dominican Public Ministry also highlighted that these US agencies maintain a constant coordination that makes the work they do for the good of Dominican society more efficient, that dependency and National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD).

Reynoso recalled that the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic receives the technical support of the United States government in different projects that are carried out through INL, such as: the Joint Task Force against Organized Crime.

In this context, he highlighted the willingness to facilitate special training and access to latest generation equipment to make the fight against organized crime more efficient.

“We appreciate the willingness of Ambassador Campos, who has expressed her government’s interest in continuing to support our country through training that allows us to be more effective in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime“, Reynoso concluded.
