Santo Domingo. – The Global Democracy and Development Foundation (Funglode) received the first official visit from the United States ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Leah Francis Campos, since her arrival in the country.
The diplomat held a dialogue with former President Leonel Fernández, president of the entity, focused on the role that Funglode plays as a center of thought, academic training and platform for cultural promotion. During the meeting, contemporary challenges linked to democratic strengthening and cooperation in strategic areas were also addressed.
Institutional exchange
Yarima Sosa, director of the Center for Future Studies, joined the meeting; Danilo Pérez, assistant to the president; and Omar de la Cruz, executive director of the Santo Domingo Global Film Festival.

Tour of the facilities
Beyond the institutional meeting, the ambassador took a tour of the different areas of the foundation, where she learned about the spaces intended for research and training, as well as the facilities dedicated to audiovisual and musical production.
In the recording studios he heard part of the artistic legacy of Johnny Ventura, a reference for merengue and an emblematic figure of Dominican cultural identity. He also exchanged impressions with the team that develops a film production under the Funglode Films label, an initiative that is part of the drive for the creative economy promoted by the institution.
The visit took place in a climate of openness and collaboration, highlighting culture and thought as key tools for social progress and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
