Uruguayan architect Rafael Viñoly died

Uruguayan architect Rafael Viñoly died in New York due to an aneurysminformed Correo de Punta del Este and confirmed the Argentine politician, Elisa Carrió, a friend of the family.

At the age of 78, the architect, creator of works such as the Carrasco International Airport, 20 Fenchurch Street in London, the Laguna Garzón Bridge or the Tokyo International Forum, died in the city where he had his studio architecture, Rafael Viñoly Architects.

Vinoly was born on June 1, 1944 in Montevideo, studied architecture in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he created a design studio; and he immigrated to the United States with his family in 1978 where he settled and founded his company.

In addition to carrying out various architectural works in different countries such as the United States, England, Japan, the Netherlands and Uruguay, he was in charge of the renovation project for the San Rafael hotel, in Punta del Este, at the request of the hotel businessman Giuseppe Cipriani.
