Lacalle is in the United Kingdom as part of a tour that began on Saturday May 21 and will end on Tuesday May 24, at the invitation of the British Prime Minister.

This Monday the 23rd, Lacalle Pou met with Boris Johnson at his Downing Street residence, an opportunity in which the economic and commercial links were analyzed.

“We are ready to take the United Kingdom-Uruguay relationship to the next level, particularly with regard to trade,” both leaders agreed during the meeting on Monday.

Johnson pointed out that despite the fact that Uruguay is part of MERCOSUR, a block he described as a “distinguished group”, they are “willing to find new options to work together.”

While Lacalle Pou thanked the invitation, and remarked that “now is the time to deepen trade and strengthen the very old relations” between both nations.

The Uruguayan president will hold meetings with British officials in the area of ​​trade and renewable and environmentally friendly energies.
