The National government strengthened the protection scheme for presidential candidate Gustavo Petroafter having denounced an alleged plan to attempt against his life.
According to information provided by the Historic Pact campaign, Those who would be behind these threats belong to the criminal gang ‘La Cordillera’, who commits a crime in the Coffee Region.
Although Petro has received signs of solidarity from various political sectors, In the last few hours, former President Álvaro Uribe denounced that the candidate linked the Democratic Center with this alleged plan to kill him and with the criminal network that would be behind it.
This led Uribe to request an investigation by the authorities. “Please, the Prosecutor’s Office investigate this infamous accusation by Petro, who accuses us, the Democratic Center, of wanting to assassinate him. through ties to the La Cordillera criminal gang,” he said.

The former president pointed out that it is a “infamy” and a “trap” invented by Petro, in the framework of the campaign for the presidential elections.
“Cheaters climb traps, Hacker was invented eight years ago to cover up drug money from Santos’ political advisers and steal the election from Óscar Iván Zuluaga,” Uribe said.
Uribe recalled that when he was in government, he always took care to protect his life. “Petro penetrates campaigns, with a lot of art they mark coffins with their own name, and they cover everything accusing our party of wanting to assassinate him. Petro forgot that with our democratic security we protected him for eight years,” he said.
Additionally, the leader of the Democratic Center affirmed that something similar happened with Mayor Daniel Quintero in Medellín, when he was a candidate.

“And remember the mayor of Medellin that in the campaign that elected him criminal organizations kicked our comrades out of the neighborhoods, and ordered blood and fire to vote for Quintero”, Held.
“Beware of this trap, Petro is as skilled and as sneaky as Santos,” insisted Uribe in the midst of the controversy over the information that has become known about the threats against Petro.
