URGENT: Ortega sends another initiative to reform the Constitution of Nicaragua

The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo will once again modify the country’s Political Constitution, as reported this Tuesday, November 19, through the official propaganda media.

The initiative was presented to the board of the National Assembly, controlled entirely by Daniel Ortega, by lawyer Claudia Curtis, a member of the Presidency’s legal team. The document was received by the head of Parliament himself, Ortega’s Gustavo Porras.

«We have come to present the bill of the President of the Republic, which consists of a partial reform of the Political Constitution of the Republic of Nicaragua. “I formally deliver this bill,” said Curtis when delivering the bill.

For his part, the Ortega deputy and Sandinista operator Gustavo Porras He said that “we are going to work quickly on this initiative, it is very important and that is why the entire Board of Directors is here receiving this initiative from the Commander Daniel Ortega and Comrade Rosario Murillo. This initiative is the update, it contains, according to what we have investigated, the modernization and updating of the Constitution to new times”, without specifying exactly what the modification consists of.

According to a publication by the ruling party, “this legislative movement is part of the government agenda that prioritizes political stability and institutional strengthening.

«We here have all worked together, all the parties have worked for the development of our country, the development of our revolution because this is a country with revolution and in evolution because we are evolving, in such a way that this bill initiative for partial reform of the constitution “It is part of the evolutionary process that the Nicaraguan State, the people of Nicaragua and the revolution are carrying out,” said the president of the Assembly.

During the three periods of Daniel Ortega’s government (2007-2024), the Sandinista tyrant has pushed a series of “partial” reforms to the Political Constitution to adjust it to his measure and project to perpetuate his regime.

Until January 2021, Ortega had ordered six reforms to the Constitutionaccording to a Confidencial account. Only in the year 2023, the Sandinista dictator ordered five reforms to the Magna Cartaas recounted by the newspaper La Prensa in November of last year.

Among the last modifications that Ortega ordered to be made as a “tailored suit” were the legalization of the stripping of nationality of Nicaraguan citizens, the elimination of the 4% constitutional budget for the Supreme Court of Justice and the legalization of total control over the National Police and the punishment of deserters, among others.
