The President of the Council of Ministers, Hannibal Torresindicated this Wednesday that the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) will have the good agreement for the purchase of fertilizers ready between July 15 and 18, in order to ensure the 2022-2023 agricultural campaign.
“This acquisition is being accelerated, there was a little delay because the two previous processes had to be annulled because they were not clear and the Comptroller said there were irregularities. This third process began on July 1 and the award will be granted between the 15 and 18 of this month.”, he maintained at a press conference.
In that sense, Torres stated that they hope that the fertilizers can arrive in the country between August 15 and 18.
“We need it urgently, that’s why we are working hard”, specified the premier.
He also mentioned that a bill was presented so that Congress empowers them to sell urea “at cost or subsidized price”.
Farmer Records
For his part, the head of Midagri, Andrés Alencastre, explained that 312,000 farmers have already registered in the Register of Agricultural Producers (PPA), for the delivery of urea.
“Every 30 days we will have 250,000 (registered) and that gives us the guarantee for the delivery of the fertilizer quota that will be for people who have the full support of their entity and thus be able to comply with the transparency of entering the corresponding campaign.”, he asserted.
