Forty-six (46) students from the University of Panama (UP) will participate in the Social Audit session addressed to the 81 municipalities and 679 townships, which was initiated by the Comptroller General of the Republic in conjunction with this institution of higher education.
The first stage of these audits includes 49 community boards in the provinces of Veraguas, Coclé and Panama.
According to the Comptroller, the community boards of the districts of Santiago, Atalaya, Ñürum, Aguadulce and San Miguelito will be subject to audits.
According to the schedule, by 2022, they plan to cover 17 municipalities and 195 community boards, in which they will audit 201 projects, supported by the Comptroller’s team of inspectors. For 2023 to 2025, it is planned to cover the rest of the 64 municipalities and the other communal boards.
Comptroller Gerardo Solís said that through citizen participation and oversight of the correct use of public funds and assets, civil society will be able to participate in this process.
