Clean energies raise the voltage
In the last 31 months, more than 45,000 vehicles have been sold in Colombia, between hybrids (35,139) and electric (4,908). Showing rapid growth in that category of the market.
In total, 16,348 units were placed in clean energy vehicles in the year, of which 2,272 are 100% electric, which show a growth of 284.4% compared to what was registered in 2021.
Likewise, in hybrids 14,076 units have been invoiced. In July alone, 2,143 units of this hybrid technology were placed, which combines electrical energy with the combustion engine.
Until today, in the first seven months of the year, only sales of electric and hybrid vehicles represent 11.1% of total market sales and they are making great strides.
However, they also register obstacles that take away some of their momentum, among which are the lack of clarity of the regulations in Colombia, such as the resolution that sets the import quotas for hybrids, and the availability of machines in the international market.
(Ports of Cartagena and Buenaventura, where more vehicles arrive).
On the other hand, the electric vehicle market shows a much greater acceleration in sales to the point that in the first seven months of the year it already far exceeds the total number of units sold in the same period of 2020 and 2021.
In addition, in a survey carried out by Portfolio, the brands with the highest sales are expecting shipments for the remainder of the year, with which the figure will continue to surprise the market.
When hybrids and electrics are added, the BYD brand maintains its leadership, and in the hybrids, the hybrid Suzuki Swift model seems to find no rival to dethrone it in billing.

However, in the accumulated figure for the year, there are 9,356 units, a figure higher than the 7,412 units of the same period of the previous year and well above, almost doubling those of 202 when they were barely 4,806 in the same period of time.
Infrastructure and construction, as well as the replacement of truck fleets, have maintained a dynamic that keeps the demand for trucks on the rise of all those taken, since those of urban distribution also show a growing trend, despite being in the ‘light’ category.
