The Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, through the Secretary of Security, César Restrepo, reported that 26 trucks belonging to the National Protection Unit (UNP) were blocking Carrera Séptima and Calle 33, while a group of armed people were among the protesters.
At that point in the city, peasants and indigenous people were protesting to demand that the National Government formalize lands, implement the Peace Agreement and speed up the Agrarian Reform.

However, the armored trucks, accompanied by armed personnel, they blocked the passage, creating a risk for the safety of the protesters and especially for the children present in the place.
“We identified 26 vans belonging to the UNP, personnel with weapons and children participating in this blockade. We consider the use of this type of vehicles, armed people and children to block the entry of the authorities unacceptable.”said César Restrepo, Secretary of Security of Bogotá.
Given this fact, the National Protection Unit reported that it will open an investigation to determine the responsibility of the beneficiaries and escorts for the improper use of the entity’s vehicles in these blockades.
“The responsibility of the escorts and drivers is to observe the traffic code and assume sanctions when necessary,” said the UNP, which also warned that improper use of vehicles carries sanctions for those responsible.
