University of Panama will teach virtual classes for first-year students

The University of Panama (UP) reported that the classes for the 2022 period will be taught virtually and in person.

The rector of the UP, Eduardo Flores Castro, said that in the summer of 2022 they will continue to apply the model used until now; that is to say, the theoretical classes at a distance, while the laboratories and practical classes, in person.

As for the first semester, he explained that the first years will receive virtual classes and, from the second years, in all careers, the teaching process will be face-to-face.

They recommended to the faculties to teach remotely the subjects that are compulsory in many majors and that are known as “nucleus”, namely, Spanish, English, geography and history.

The rector of this house of studies explained that by 2022 there are 33 thousand pre-registered, which is a record number. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, there were 10,000 students.

“There is no physical space and that is why in some areas they will remain virtually. The demand of the students increased ”, he pointed out.
