In a statement signed by Martín Soriano, rector of that house of studies, society was thanked for the support provided “in the most painful moment in our 30-year history.”
For its part, the Juárez University of the State of Durango condemned the events in which the young Ramírez was deprived of his life.
“We express our condolences to family and friends, and we demand that the authorities continue with the investigations,” he said in a statement.
“We will proceed to withdraw medical interns in social service from places where the provisions of the Official Standard on social service and clinical fields are not complied with, mainly from the highest-risk areas in the state,” he added.
The foregoing with the purpose of safeguarding the physical integrity of the students.
Eric, a 24-year-old medical intern, was assisting a patient when he was shot to death at the Comprehensive Hospital of El Salto, in Pueblo Nuevo, Durango.
Faced with the crime, the medical community demands justice for Eric, who was about to finish his social service.
Governor José Rosas Aispuro indicated that investigations will be carried out to find the person or persons responsible for this event that shocked the medical community.
On Saturday, the president announced the arrest of a person presumed responsible for the events, while promising to reinforce security in hospitals and rural clinics.
