The multi-coloured coalition, led by the National Party, under the banner of the “Republican Coalition”, is preparing for the municipal elections in May 2025.
The union takes place in Salto, Canelones and Montevideo, with the aim of winning in those departments and thus avoiding the triumph of the left, which governs in them.
In October, the members of the multicolour coalition will compete separately to achieve parliamentary representation, and in the run-off they will compete together against the Frente Amplio throughout the country. In May 2025, they will unite in Canelones, Montevideo and Salto, in order to gain more than the FA to try to win those departments.
They will apply the same logic as in 2019, when the centre and centre-right parties joined forces to win the national elections to beat the left. They succeeded. Now they need to make the same alliance in three departments where the left predominates.
