United to Help delivered 5,000 garments to State institutions

The delivery of clothing by the United to Help organization to the Ministries of the Interior and National Defense and the National Sports Secretariat (SND) took place last week.

Participating in the activity, held in Ciudad de la Costa, were Lorena Ponce de León; the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber; the undersecretary of that portfolio, Guillermo Maciel; the National Secretary of Sport, Sebastián Bauzá; the general director of Social Services of the Ministry of National Defense, Roxana Berois.

Unidos para Ayudar is a private solidarity initiative that originated in 2020. Some 30 companies participate in it and have delivered defibrillators for public sports arenas and more than 120,000 food baskets in its first year of operation, and another 150,000 in 2021, Ponce reported. de León, in statements to the media.

Luis Alberto Heber, meanwhile, thanked in his oratory for the donation of clothing, which he considered highly relevant for the staff of the Ministry of the Interior.

For his part, the National Secretary of Sports said that the clothes will be delivered to the representatives of Uruguay who will compete in the World Cup for Amputees. “Hopefully more companies will join, because solidarity is what represents the Uruguayan people,” exhorted Bauzá.
