The Unitary Platform rejected the dismissal of Juan Carlos Delpino as principal rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE) that the National Assembly (AN) approved in 2020. It described the measure as part of the “persecution” of the government of Nicolás Maduro against the former official.
In a releasepublished this Sunday, October 20 on its social networks, the coalition of parties affirmed that Delpino’s dismissal was a retaliation by the ruling party “for not having become complicit in the fraud perpetrated against the popular sovereignty expressed through the vote on past 28J”.
In the text, the Unitary Platform asserted that the country demands a transparent electoral referee and attached to the Magna Carta.
The National Assembly In 2020, he approved the dismissal of Juan Carlos Delpino from his position as principal rector of the National Electoral Council (CNE). The deputies of the Legislative Branch also gave the green light for the Attorney General’s Office to initiate an investigation against the former official.
The decision was approved in the ordinary session this Thursday, October 17, by two-thirds of Parliament. The Legislative Branch asked the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate Delpino’s alleged participation in the alleged commission of the crimes of fraud, falsification of documents, conspiracy, association, promotion of hatred and treason.
After his dismissal was approved in Parliament, Delpino responded to the deputies and said that he did not commit any crime during or after the presidential elections of July 28, as he has been accused of.
«The only criminal association that can be pointed out without room for ambiguity is the one that misgoverns the country whose actors are those who did not enjoy popular favor. “They know that I did not go up to totalization because it was not going to happen,” Delpino pointed out through the social network
He pointed out that the representatives of the government of Nicolás Maduro “know that only the results that would be read later would be shown and they also know that internal technicians admitted to me that the result would not favor this gang that has its epicenter in Miraflores.”
