The Unitary Platform, the opposition delegation to the dialogue, hopes that the conference in Bogotá will encourage the release of political prisoners and that the recommendations of the European Union Electoral Mission will be taken into account for the 2024 elections, as well as estimates that it will soon restart the table of Mexico
The delegation of the Unitary Platform (PU), headed by the former mayor of Baruta Gerardo Blyde, issued a statement on the night of Tuesday, April 25, in which it thanked and celebrated that the international conference on Venezuela took place; in order to seek a solution through peaceful and democratic means to the crisis in Venezuela.
The text, published in social networksHe welcomed the consensus among the attendees on the need to “resume urgently, without excuses or further delay” the process of dialogue and negotiation in Mexico; paralyzed again unilaterally by the administration of Nicolás Maduro until the resources for the social fund are released, an agreement signed in November 2022.
With this, says the opposition delegation, it hopes that with the eventual reactivation of the talks —and with the mediation of Norway— agreements will be reached to solve the problems of Venezuelans and address the humanitarian emergency.
Similarly, the Unitary Platform hopes that this conference can help promote critical issues such as the release of political prisoners and a schedule to hold free and transparent elections; taking into account the recommendations made in November 2022 by the Electoral Observation Mission (MOE) of the European Union.

It also reiterates the importance of establishing agreements and conditions that allow the reintegration of Venezuela into the international community for commercial and economic operations. He added the need to create a “group of friends” for the negotiation process to provide confidence to the parties and ensure that the agreements are fulfilled.

This communiqué from the Unitary Platform is registered after the Colombian Foreign Minister, Alvaro Leyvareleased in a brief statement the consensus of the international summit, which was held in Bogotá, to explore the Venezuelan political situation.
There, the 20 countries that were present expressed the need to establish a schedule for “free and transparent elections”, as well as the lifting of sanctions on Venezuela.

In addition, they agreed that the continuation of the negotiation between Venezuelan political factors must be accompanied “with the acceleration of the implementation of the Social Fund.”
Later, the administration of Nicolás Maduro issued its position written in which he “takes note” of the conclusions and consensus of the meeting in Bogotá, as well as reiterates his requests as the deposit of resources; all sanctions are lifted and assets abroad are returned, among others.
This conference was held outside of what happened with the political leader Juan Guaidó in Colombia and his subsequent shipment to the United States.
