Unitary Platform called Trump's statements on Venezuelan crude "unacceptable"

Chavismo officials did not miss the opportunity to criticize the Venezuelan opposition that received the support of Trump, mostly a member of the Unitary Platform, as they interpreted it as a “confession” of the United States’ claims

The Venezuelan opposition grouped in the Democratic Unitary Platform lamented the statements by US political leader Donald Trumpwho confessed to regretting not having taken advantage of the collapse of Venezuela during his administration to take over the country and have access to its oil potential.

“When I left, Venezuela was ready to collapse. If we had taken it, we would have all that oil, but now we buy oil from Venezuela, so we make a dictator very rich,” the former president declared at a political campaign event in North Carolina.

Faced with these statements, Chavismo officials did not miss the opportunity to criticize the Venezuelan opposition that received Trump’s support, as they interpreted it as a “confession” of the United States’ claims that were so denounced by Chavismo for years. .

With this context on the table, the Unitary Platform rejected the words of Trump -once the main ally of the opposition on the international scene- considering that they are “alien to the principle of sovereignty that should govern international relations.”

In a release Issued from the Unitary Platform, the opposition made it clear that the United States has been a vital ally in the democratic struggle that the opposition coalition has tried to lead, but that Trump’s statements are “unacceptable.”

In addition, they assure that, during the administration of Trump and the accompaniment that his administration provided to the interim government chaired by Juan Guaidó, the then president “never expressed himself in those terms.”

In this sense, the Unitary Platform emphasizes that Venezuelan oil belongs to the citizens of the country and that no political factor can dispose of said resource, pointing to the Russians, Chinese and Cubans on the list of countries that cannot take advantage of crude oil. national.

Similarly, they accuse Nicolás Maduro of committing the crime of which he himself accuses the United States, by using oil for his own benefit and that of his party.

“Venezuela’s oil belongs to the Venezuelans and for the Venezuelans. Neither the Cubans, nor the Chinese, nor the Russians, nor the Americans, nor any political factor can have this strategic resource, as Maduro does,” the letter stresses.

Finally, they deplore the fact that Venezuelan wealth is used as a theme in US political campaigns, in a panorama of preparation for the presidential race that will take place in 2024.

“Our objective will always be to preserve the wealth of the nation, under our jurisdiction and for the benefit of the entire country. Therefore, it should not be used as a theme in the US campaign,” they emphasized.
