The Unitary Platform, together with other politicians, rejected the arrest warrant against Edmundo González Urrutia and expressed solidarity with him
Leaders of the Unitary Platform inside and outside the country, as well as politicians in nations such as Italy and Spain, have spoken out against the arrest warrant issued by the courts with jurisdiction over terrorism against opposition presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia.
The Unitary Platform issued a statement in its social networks where he “strongly” condemns the actions against the ambassador and emphasizes that, while the minutes supporting Nicolás Maduro’s victory at the polls were not published within the time established by law, an arrest warrant was issued in record time “against the winner of the presidential election.”
In this sense, he stressed that it is “irritating” and also attacks the people who voted in favor of the politician. “Any persecution will find us united, firm and articulated in defense of the overwhelming majority that was expressed on July 28,” the text stressed.
The country demands the voting records, not arrest warrants
From the Unitary Platform we express our strong condemnation of the deepening of political persecution against @EdmundoGU.
