Unit 2 of Punta Catalina goes out of service for maintenance

The Punta Catalina Thermoelectric Power Plant reported this Friday that due to preventive maintenance, unit 2 will be out of service until next Sunday, June 19.

However, the entity specifies, «Thanks to maintenance programs, units operate safely and stably, guaranteeing greater participation in supplying demand and safeguarding proper functioning.«.

In that sense, the unit 1 continues to operate at maximum capacity, assured the Thermal Power Plant through an announcement posted on his Twitter account.

The Punta Catalina Thermoelectric Power Plant is a plant that generates 752 MW, representing up to 30% of the electricity demand of the Dominican Republic.

It is recalled that the leader of the People’s Force party, Robert RosarioI consider that the power outages that affected a large part of the national territory in recent days were the product of a lack of planning of Government which allowed all the plants to go out for maintenance “Evenly”.

«They already have two years in the Government, that would have looked good two or three months later. That blackout that occurred in the Dominican Republic was part of the government’s planning and that was suffered by the population,” Rosario said.

He added that “He is sure” that this month they will charge the population “more expensive blackouts than what they charged the previous month”, because “Every month they are increasing 10%, 15% and 20% to the electric bill.
