UNIORE recognizes the Superior Electoral Tribunal for its work and supports its ratification

UNIORE reconoce al Tribunal Superior Electoral por su labor y respalda su ratificación

Santo Domingo.– The Inter-American Union of Electoral Organizations (UNIORE) recognized the Plenary session of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) for his exemplary performance during the period of his administration, while urging the National Council of the Judiciary (CNM) to consider your ratification in the charges.

In an official communication, the pro tempore president of UNIORE, Alfredo Juncá Wendehakehighlighted the commitment and efficiency with which the TSE magistrates have carried out their duties, describing their work as “praiseworthy and outstanding.”

“We are pleased to certify and recognize the excellent work carried out by the Plenary of the Superior Electoral Tribunal of the Dominican Republic, whose work has strengthened democracy in the region,” said Juncá Wendehake.

Contribution to democratic strengthening

The UNIORE representative stressed that the performance of the TSE has had a significant impact on the institutional strengthening of the continent’s electoral systems, especially in the face of the democratic challenges of recent years.

“We recognize his commitment to electoral justice and we are convinced that his management has contributed to the improvement of democracy in our region,” added the president pro tempore.

The organization reaffirmed its support for the work of the Dominican court and reiterated its willingness to continue promoting cooperation and exchange of good practices among electoral organizations of the hemisphere, in favor of transparency and democratic institutions.

UNIORE’s support coincides with the position recently expressed by the Institutionality and Justice Foundation (FINJUS)which requested the CNM the ratification of the president and the titular judges of the TSEwho were elected in 2021.

In a letter signed by his executive vice president, Servio Tulio Castaños GuzmánFINJUS highlighted that the full court has acted as “guarantor of the democratic system”, ensuring efficiency and credibility in electoral processes.

“The career of these distinguished judges has represented a contribution and a guarantee for the safeguarding of our democratic system,” states the communication deposited on October 14 with the CNM secretariat.

The judges whose ratification the entity supports are: Ygnacio Pascual Camacho Hidalgo, Pedro P. Yermenos Forastieri, Rosa Pérez de García, Fernando Fernandez Cruz and Hermenegilda del Rosario Fondeur Ramírez.

FINJUS considered that the permanence of this judicial team at the head of the TSE “encourages Dominican society to renew its confidence in electoral justice and democratic institutions.”
