President Pedro Castillo proposed to consult the citizens so that they can pronounce on the change of the constitution. However, the union leaders who supported Castillo doubt that the initiative will prosper.
The bill will be presented by the Executive for its approval. The leaders do not believe that the idea will prosper in parliament. Therefore, they will wait for this power of the State to pronounce itself before taking sides and adopting actions to achieve the purpose.
“We would all like to change the Constitution. But before getting an idea, we have to wait for Congress to make a decision. Otherwise we will fall on deaf ears. The president should have done that from the beginning of his administration. Now that he is being delegitimized, he recently bet on the subject. Anyway, we will wait anyway, “said Juan José Flores, leader of Caracoto.
For his part, Amador Núñez, president of the Front of Popular Organizations (FOP), indicated that the issue is still “a political dream” because Congress will be an obstacle anyway.
“Of course things do go through the change of the Constitution, in many points. But we have to take into account that no one will want to support the government in the current circumstances,” said Núñez.
René Chire, from the Azángaro struggle committee, specified that only when the parliament makes a concrete decision will they work to make citizens aware of the change in the Magna Carta with regional and district events. “We need to make concrete determinations, otherwise we are up in the air,” he said.
The students of the National University of the Altiplano, would also join from the law school whenever there are concrete determinations. They think elections would help. v
