After several postponements due to different agendas and organizations, the National Assembly for Social Reforms, Peace and Unity will take place in Bogotá on the weekend of September 14 and 15, at the National University of Colombia. The event will be a space “of a meeting that will reflect for two days on 9 thematic axes in 5 work tables, which will mark the route of mobilization and strengthening of the Government of Change in the time that remains, in Colombia and abroad.“.
The Assembly Committee for Reforms also reported who will join the marches in support of President Gustavo Petro’s government on Thursday, September 19.
The Assembly It was called by the Historic Pact, the Unitary Central of Workers (CUT), the National Coordinator for Change, the National Unitary Command and the Minga Social Indígena del Suroccidente. And they reported that “Multiple social, union, trade and political organizations have joined forces to confront the coup d’état by the right.“.

They also added: “These same organizations have called for a national mobilization on Thursday, September 19, throughout the country. In Bogotá, the rally will be at 11 a.m., in Plaza de Bolívar, in defense of the government, against the attempted coup d’état and in support of social reforms.
The announcement of its support for the marches on September 19 did not come as a surprise: it is in line with the needs and objectives of the Assembly, which is designed to debate and present the achievements of the current government so far and, in turn, consider how they can be strengthened.
One of the unions organizing the Assembly, the CUT, led by Fabio Arias, is the head of the mobilizations called for Thursday. In fact, Arias was in charge of making the announcement after a meeting at the Casa de Nariño.
“We are going to march against the coup, because we understand that Uribe’s supporters have never stopped trying to destabilize. That is, we will continue to defend the constitutional period for which 11 million Colombians voted and we will defend the institutionality.”he said.
