Petrobras: oil and natural gas production increases 2.4% in one year

The information comes from the company’s Marketing Superintendent, Guilherme França. Union should auction 78 million barrels of oil in 2025

The announcement was made during the PPSA Technical Forum, held this Thursday (5), at the Hotel Prodigy Santos Dumont, next to the terminal in the central region of Rio.

The notice for the 5th Oil Auction should be published in March 2025. Campo Mero is the one with the largest volume of cargo: 51.5 million barrels to be sold in 12 months. Next is Norte de Carcará. “The field is scheduled to start production in 2025 and the auction will sell 12 million barrels from the Union in 18 months. The Itapu (6.5 million) and Sépia (4.5 million) lots will also be for 18 months and Búzios (3.5 million) for 12 months”.

PPSA informed that the volumes represent current estimates of the Union’s share of oil in 2025 and 2026 in these fields, but that they may be revised until the publication of the notice for a more refined projection.

According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the sale of oil is strategic for energy security and economic development in Brazil, generating employment and income for the population. “Even with all these efforts, it is still not possible to determine when we will reach the peak demand for oil, and that is why we need to replenish our reserves, ensuring energy security, which is as relevant as the transition”, commented the National Secretary of Oil, Gas Natural and Biofuels of the MME, Pietro Mendes, who represented minister Alexandre Silveira at the event.

Natural Gas Auction

At the same meeting, the PPSA superintendent also announced that the 1st Union Natural Gas Auction is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.

“We are currently analyzing the contracting of the Integrated Flow System (SIE) and the Integrated Processing System (SIP), necessary to carry out the auction. These are complex contracts and we are even evaluating the possibility of signing the contract and assigning rights in the processing. Whatever is most attractive to the Union,” he said in a text released by the company.

France predicts that the Union will have up to 1.3 million cubic meters of natural gas to offer to the market by 2027. This calculation does not consider the yield factor of the Natural Gas Processing Units (UPGN), “which means that part of this gas will be transformed into LPG and liquids”.

According to the company, production refers to sharing contracts in Búzios, Sapinhoá, Sépia and Atapu, in addition to the Union’s participation in areas not contracted in the agreements for the individualization of production in Tupi and Atapu.
