The union of the Ombudsman He rejected the call made by the president of Congress, María del Carmen Alva, so that the special commission in charge of electing the new Ombudsman meets on Tuesday the 14th, despite the court order to suspend the process.
Through its social networks, the workers’ union described as “contempt and disobedience” the decision of the head of Parliament to hold a new session of this parliamentary working group.
“Open contempt and disobedience to judicial authority by the president of Congress. We will proceed to inform the respective court so that it can act in accordance with the law.”, reads his Twitter account.
As it is recalled, last Thursday, June 10, the Third Specialized Constitutional Court of Lima, in charge of Judge John Javier Paredes Salas, ordered Alva Prieto, as president of the Legislature, to suspend the process already started to elect the successor of Walter Gutierrez.

Following the order issued by the Judiciary, Maria del Carmen Alva said that the choice of Ombudsman it is within the powers of Parliament and questioned the legitimacy of the workers’ union to promote an appeal against said process.
“I miss this request from a union. I understand that a union does not have the legitimacy to stop a procedure that corresponds to Congresswhich is within the competence of Congress to do (…) It does not make any sense”, he told the press.
