The National Platform of Mipymes Guilds, which brings together 92 associations of small and micro companies nationwide, rejected a possible increase in the minimum wage, a measure that was evaluated this Thursday in the session of Minister council.
“We express our complete rejection of a measure that will benefit a few and that will greatly affect micro and small businesses in the country”, the union said in a statement.
He indicated that, according to figures from the International Labor Organization (ILO), labor informality in Peru amounts to 75%.
“This populist measure will only aggravate this problem and damage the business fabric, made up of enterprising and thriving Peruvians who have been affected by the consequences of the pandemic and from which we have not been able to recover so far.”, he referred.
He added that the appropriate space to deal with concerted policies is the National Labor Council, which brings together the main actors in the sector.
In this sense, the National Platform of Mipymes Guilds maintained that it is not possible for unilateral and arbitrary measures to be taken.
“The application of measures without adequate technical analysis has affected the Peruvian labor market and prevented thousands of compatriots from accessing formal employment. If we want to help workers, let us work together, authorities, associations and unions, to develop measures that promote decent employment and the competitiveness of companies”, he narrowed down.
Thus, they asked the authorities of the Executive Branch to open the channels of dialogue to reach standards that benefit workers and companies without affecting the labor market.
The minimum wage was raised for the last time in March 2018, in the government of Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, who ordered an increase of S / 80 and thus went from S / 850 to S / 930.
