After the transporters strike Last Monday, October 6, it was agreed to set up a Working Group for this October 14. In that sense, the Union of Guilds asked the Government to take immediate action to avoid new stoppages, which could aggravate the crisis and harm the economy of Peruvians.
Through a statement, they supported the demands of the transporters, rejecting the growing wave of citizen insecurity and crime, which not only affects this sector, but has claimed the lives of several of its workers.
“Extortion and violence put their lives at risk and violate their right to work,” they indicated.
“Transport plays a fundamental role in the well-being of citizens and in the development of the productive chain. Guaranteeing its full functioning must be a priority for the State, which is why we call for the implementation of urgent and effective measures that guarantee its safety and operational continuity,” they highlighted.
In that sense, they reported that they have presented to the Executive Branch specific proposals to combat organized crime and illegal economies, as well as legislative proposals and an increase in the budget for law enforcement. “We hope they are considered,” they indicated.
