The Association of Workers and Employees of Conaprole (AOEC) accused the authorities of the main national dairy industry of “pushing” so that there is a generalized conflictconsidering the dispute that is based on the activity in the industrial complex of Rodríguez (San José) where UHT milk is made (an ultra-pasteurization process is applied to it), and He also blamed them for the shortage of a set of dairy products in the local squarehe.
The union denounced, in a statement sent to The Observer“breaks of 30 to 40 daily products, constant (…), many of which are highly sold”, citing the cases of lactolate, lines of desserts (pudding, jelly, flan), yogurt with cereals, sandwich cheeses ( Conaprole and Alpa), lactose-free milk, skimmed and common calcium milk (which according to AOEC “disappeared from the market months ago”).
urgent meeting
This Tuesday, May 2, at 10 a.m., an extraordinary and urgent national council of delegates of the AOEC will begin. Luis Goichea, a union leader, explained to El Observador that in addition to setting up what is happening, the objective is to set a date for a general assembly of the union, an instance in which new union measures can be adopted, which are not They will then be established already this Tuesday.
AOEC call.
AOEC indicated that Conaprole “has systematically denied” the proposals of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) and that the indicated shortage of products “is due to a very bad management of the central management of Conaprole, of the general management and of the central maintenance management, endorsed by the board of directors of Conaprole or if not also promoted”.
AOEC noted that there is no preventive maintenance of the Conaprole industrial park, there is a lack of original materials and spare parts and there are machines that have been inoperative for more than a year.
He also denounced that suppliers of equipment and technology are surprised when they verify the use of non-original spare parts and gave as an example: “It’s like buying a Ferrari and repairing it with spare parts from a Volkswagen from the year 60.”
The union maintains that “Conaprole forgets that the internal market processes less than 30% of the milk received in the company and its income is close to 50%, therefore, it gives more profitability to milk than exports (70% of the milk is destined and has a slightly higher income than the domestic market)”.
“Besides, the products of the internal market, because they are not in bulk, occupy more manpowerwhich is beneficial for the whole of society and the country,” AOEC added in its statement.

Who wins with this situation? AOEC wonders and answers: “Nobody”pointing out that there are damages for producers, workers, distributors and merchants.
“We believe that Conaprole is pretending to create a conflict to overlap its mistakes of industrial mismanagementtrying to make the union appear responsible for the shortage of Conaprole dairy products at the national level that has been occurring for several months, even at levels much higher than what happened in conflicts of greater intensity”, it was indicated.
AOEC even urged the press to “go out and probe the businesses, as they do when we have conflicts.”
