Within the framework of its internationalization policy, the Franz Tamayo Unifranz University represented Bolivia at the International Fair of Higher Education Argentina (FIESA) that was held in Mar del Plata, last November, with important results.

FIESA is a fair aimed at international projection of higher education, generate cooperation networks among the participants, innovate, learn and develop values ​​that allow the creation of a linking platform with the world. The event was attended by representatives of more than 180 universities on five continents, higher education institutes, government institutions, agencies, associations, international networks, embassy and consulate authorities.

The main theme of the Fair in its 2022 version was internationalization, which together with innovation, diversity, sustainability, international cooperation and financing marked the agenda of the week of its realization in conferences, workshops and training.

The educationtoday more than ever needs to internationalize, open the doors of the world to the entire university community from home; but also promote student mobility, joint research, collaborative projects and that knowledge really expands, shares and grows”, said Verónica Ágreda, Rector of Unifranz, who headed the Bolivian delegation.

The university has made a significant effort to strengthen effective collaborative ties with world-class universities. Bilateral alliances and the active participation of the university in collaboration networks make possible the training of professionals with a global vision, with capacities for insertion into the international context, adaptable to the environment, tolerant of change and respectful of cultural differences. Unifranz exhibited its successful internationalization programs at FIESA.

For the host of the event and Rector of the National University of Mar del Plata, Alfredo Remo Lazzeretti, it is important that our future professionals have the perspective of internationalizing. “If there is a definition of globalization, it is that what happens in any part of the world affects us at home, because We live in an increasingly interdependent worldhypercommunicated, in that sense it is important to incorporate this perspective into their training.” demand.

Ágreda is committed to generating alliances with universities in the Southern Cone and Latin America since we are culturally very similar, with the same needs and realities.

“Must join efforts to consolidate ourselves as a continent that is emerging in the world, which has great opportunities, capable of having a made in Latin America for export, con new ways of making a company to continue growing with sustainable development, aligned with the 2030 agenda (..) The causes we have now are global causes, so the unit faces us with challenges not only as a university but as humanity as a whole”, explained the rector of Unifranz

Under the slogan “Higher education, a human right without borders”, the 2022 version of FIESA brought together leading academics from various parts of the world, such as the French Patrick Lavelle, who spoke on “Higher education, international cooperation and sustainable development”; Diana Araujo Pereira from Brazil, who addressed the topic “the internationalization of higher education in the face of the challenges of diversity”; Julie Greenwood from the United States spoke on “Scaling digital teaching and learning models to increase access to higher education”.

Likewise, Nicolas Jooste representing South Africa participated, with the theme of ‘Challenges for South-South cooperation in Higher Education’; Craig Whitsed from Australia, with his presentation on “Internationalization of the curriculum at home: some lessons and observations” and Fabián Salvioli from Argentina who gave a keynote talk on the closing day, referring to “Higher Education: a human right without borders” .
