On February 28, nine tolls of Cundinamarca, Tolima, Quindío and Atlántico They will be the first to have the Colpass Electronic Vehicle Collection Interoperability System fully enabled.
(This is how toll prices remained in Colombia for 2022).
The Ministry of Transportation announced that the company GoPass exceeded all the requirements defined to be enabled as the first Intermediary of the Electronic Vehicular Collection Interoperability system (IP/REV). This means that the TAG, the electronic payment devices attached to the vehicle, of this company, will be valid in different tolls throughout the country.
In this way, drivers who move around the country can use a single device at authorized tolls in the national territory and, thereby, reduce the time spent at these points.
“Today we celebrate the birth of Colpass, as we have baptized the Vehicle Electronic Collection Interoperability System, connecting the first nine tolls, to which many more will be added soon. With this, the drivers of the country will have the possibility of going through the tolls enabled with a single TAG, without having to stop or make a cash payment”, indicated the Minister of Transport, Ángela María Orozco.
(These are the main complaints about tolls in Colombia).
In Resolution 20213040035125 of October 2021 of the Ministry of Transport, it was defined that the nine tolls in the country that had the most advanced implementation process of the interoperability system must guarantee it from next February 28. In this way, users who have purchased their TAG will be able to pay electronically at the points included in the first phase, which are located in four departments:
Cundinamarca: Mondoñedo, La Tebaida, Siberia, Caiquero and Bicentennial.
Atlantic: Galapa and Juan Mina.
Quindio: Line Tunnel.
Tolima: Line Tunnel.
The second phase will be implemented until October 30, 2022, when the electronic vehicle collection systems must be interoperating in all tolls in the country.
(Electronic tolls would raise up to $420 billion a year.)
“One of the main objectives of interoperability is to enable users to travel through all tolls in the country with a single device in their vehicles, associated with a single user account and ticket, regardless of who is responsible for the toll,” explained the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Olga Lucía Ramírez, who added that Colpass will increase operational and logistical efficiencies for all people who transit through the national territory.
But neverthelessThose who wish to continue paying the toll rate in cash manually can do so without any inconvenience at all stations in the country..
