“From now on, as previously agreed, União Brasil will meet with other parties that share the same ideals and projects in search of a consensus name,” the party said in an official note.

União Brasil has been in dialogue with a group that parties, formed by the MDB, PSDB and Citizenship, in the so-called third way, for the consolidation of an electoral alliance for the October election. In a meeting last week, the presidents of these four parties announced that they will define a consensus name to run for the presidential ticket.

With the official nomination, Bivar becomes one of the options of this group of parties to be the candidate for president or vice president on the ticket. In addition to him, the former governor of São Paulo João Doria was nominated by the PSDB as a pre-candidate. By the MDB, the name indicated is that of senator Simone Tebet.

“To facilitate this dialogue, as a pre-candidate, Bivar will step away from the negotiating table and leave this task to the Union’s national vice president, Antônio de Rueda, the party leader in the Chamber, Elmar Nascimento, and the Senate party leader [Davi] Alcolumbre”, concludes the party’s official note, mentioning the negotiations.

União Brasil is the party to which former judge Sergio Moro, another name that was also seeking a presidential candidacy, joined. With Bivar’s nomination by the party, Moro should now only have room for a candidacy for the Senate or the Chamber of Deputies for the state of São Paulo, where he transferred his electoral domicile.
