The Minister of Finance, Ricardo Bonilla, responded to the statements that the former advisor of the portfolio, María Alejandra Benavides, made before the Prosecutor’s Office in reference to the corruption scandal of the National Disaster Risk Management Unit (UNGRD).
The testimony of the former Government official would show that the Minhacienda allegedly would be aware of the purchase of votes of congressmen of the Public Credit Commission.
After these allegations were made known, Bonilla issued a statement on his X account, in which he refers to the issue. The minister indicated that he respects the work that the Prosecutor’s Office has been doing to clarify what happened in this case and hopes to demonstrate that “I may eventually make mistakes, but not crimes.”
“I have never played around the law. My commitment to the president and public finances remains intact and will not be affected by this situation,” projection.
