Unforeseen blackout affects Havana

The Electric Union of Cuba (UNE) reported tonight about a blackout that affected most of the Havana municipalities. According to the entity, it had no relation to the usual blackouts due to the country’s energy situation.

“It is reported that a large part of the affected municipalities in Havana are without electricity, the causes are being investigated, and once they are known they will be announced,” the UNE said on its Facebook page.

Different users of social networks documented power outages in Guanabacoa, Diez de Octubre, Playa, Cerro, Centro Habana and Habana Vieja, among other municipalities in the capital.

Approximately two hours later, the UNE released the following message:

“Dear consumers, all the lines of the transmission network in Havana are with electric service.

“The service continues to be restored to the population that is still affected.”
