Unemployment withdrawals from Afores return to pre-pandemic levels

The data from the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System (Consar) released this Tuesday show that it is the second consecutive month that the amount withdrawn falls. The number of workers making withdrawals was also reduced.

Afore Coppel, Azteca and XXI Banorte remain the administrators with the most cash withdrawals for this concept.

The average amount a worker withdrew was 1,546.13 pesos, the lowest average amount since March 2020.

During the COVID-19 crisis, Mexicans made record withdrawals after losing their jobs. This support given by the Afores can be done once every five years and as a consequence weeks of contributions, necessary to access a pension, are removed.
