The unemployment rate in the country, also known as the unemployment rate, was 6.2% in the quarter ended in October this year. The rate is the lowest recorded since the beginning of the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Pnad) historical series, in 2012.
The previous quarter, ended in July this year, had recorded a rate of 6.8%. In October last year, it was 7.6%.
The employed population (103.6 million) also reached a record, being 1.5% above the average for the quarter ended in July and 3.4% above October.
The unemployed population fell to 6.8 million, that is, 8% less (591 thousand people less) compared to the previous quarter and 17.2% less than October 2023 (1.4 million people less). It is the lowest number of unemployed people since the quarter ended in December 2014.
The worker’s usual real income was R$3,255, remaining stable in the quarterly comparison and growing 3.9% in the year. The usual real income volume (R$332.6 billion) grew 2.4% (plus R$7.7 billion) in the quarter and 7.7% (plus R$23.6 billion) in the year.
