The vacancy rate, also known as unemployment rate, was 6.2% in the last quarter of 2024. The index is statistically stable compared to the third quarter of the year (6.4%) and lower than that observed in the last quarter of 2023 (7.4%). The data are from the National Continuous Household Sample Survey (PNAD), released this Friday (31) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
With the result, the annual vacancy rate was 6.6%, the lowest level in the historical series started in 2012. Before that, the lowest level had been 7% in 2014.
In the last quarter of 2024, the contingent of unoccupied was 6.8 million, stable compared to the previous quarter and 15.6% lower than the last quarter of the previous year (less 1.3 million people).
The occupied population (103.8 million) grew in both comparisons: 0.8% (plus 789 thousand people) in the quarter and 2.8% (plus 2.8 million people) in the year.
The usual real income of the worker rose to R $ 3,315 in the last quarter of 2024, ie 1.4% high in the quarterly comparison and 4.3% in the annual comparison. The usual real income mass recorded a record volume of R $ 339.5 billion, 2.3% more (or another R $ 7.5 billion) than in the previous quarter and 7.4% higher (or more R $ 23 , 3 billion) that in the four quarter of 2023.
