The youhandle of unemployment (TD) in Colombia in December 2021 it was eleven %, a reduction of 2.4 percentage points (pps) in relation to the last month of 2020 (13.4%).
Compared to 2019, when the data was 9.5%, there was an increase of 1.5 pps.
The unemployment rate in the country ended 2021 with a moderation trend, since in the last quarter the reductions compared to the same period of 2020 were 2.4 pps (December), 2.5 pps (November) and 2.9 pps (October).
In the 13 main cities of the country, the TD was 11.6%, 4 pps less than in December 2020 (15.6%).
In the year, the TD in the country stood at 13.7%, down 2.2 pps compared to 2020, but higher by 3.2 pps compared to 2019 (10.5%)
THE NUMBERS
During the last month of last year, in the country there were 21.5 million employed people, an increase of 185,000 from December 2020.
In the 13 main cities of the country, the increase was 217,000 employed persons: it went from 10.1 million to 10.3 million.
At the national level, the unemployed population was 2.6 million, with a reduction of 634,000 people compared to the last month of 2020. And in the main cities, the figure was 1.3 million (1.8 million in 2020).
Finally, the inactive population It was 16.3 million, an increase of 955,000 compared to 2020, when there were 15.3 million.
In the main areas of the country, the increase in the inactive population was 552,000: it went from 6.8 million to 7.3 million.
It is worth remembering that the inactive population is all those who perform household chores, who live on income, study or who are discouraged from looking for work.
