Unemployment insurance ceiling rises to R$2,518.65 after adjustment

IPCA records an increase of 0.44% in September

As of this Monday (12), workers fired without just cause will be receiving more unemployment insurance. The table of salary ranges used to calculate the value of the installment followed the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) of 2024 and was readjusted by 3.9%.Unemployment insurance ceiling rises to R$2,518.65 after adjustment

With the correction, the maximum value of unemployment insurance will rise from R$2,424.11 to R$2,518.65, a difference of R$94.54. The minimum wage follows the minimum wage variation and increases from R$1,518 to R$1,621. The new amounts are valid for both those who receive unemployment insurance and those who will still file a claim.

The unemployment insurance portion is calculated based on the average of the worker’s last three salaries before dismissal. After correcting the salary ranges, the benefit will be defined as follows:

Up to R$ 2,222.17 80% of the average wage or minimum wage, whichever is higher
From R$ 2,222.18 to R$ 3,703.99 50% on what exceeds R$2,222.17, plus a fixed amount of R$1,777.74
Above R$3,703.99 Invariable installment of R$ 2,518.65

Rights

Paid to workers with a formal contract dismissed without just cause, unemployment insurance has three to five installments, which depend on the number of months worked in the previous job and the number of requests for the benefit. The benefit can be requested through the Emprega Brasil Portalfrom the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

To be entitled to unemployment insurance, the worker must meet the following requirements:

• Having been dismissed without just cause;

• Being unemployed when applying for the benefit;

• Having received wages from a legal entity or natural person equivalent to a legal entity (registered in a specific Social Security register) relating to:
– at least 12 months in the last 18 months immediately preceding the date of dismissal, in the first request;
– at least nine months in the last 12 months immediately preceding the date of dismissal, in the second request; and
– each of the six months immediately preceding the date of dismissal, in other applications;

• Not having your own income to support yourself and your family;

• Not receiving continued Social Security benefit, except death pension or accident benefit.

The worker cannot have another employment relationship. The deadline for making the request varies between the seventh and 120th day of dismissal, for formal workers, and between the seventh and 90th day, for domestic employees.
