The unemployment rate went from 8.4% in June to 8.1% in July, returning to the value registered in June and somewhat higher than the 7.7% registered in May.
In addition, the activity rate stood at 61.8% and the employment rate at 56.8%, according to the monthly report released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In absolute numbers, and based on data from the Continuous Household Survey, there are 1,792,200 active workers, 1,647,900 employed and 144,400 unemployed.
Discriminated by region, in Montevideo there is a 63.1% activity rate, 58.1 employment and 7.9 unemployment. In the Interior: 60.9%, 55.9% and 8.2%, respectively.
